2,000 Students Engage with IIT Startup at Inter-IIT Technology Meet

In a notable achievement highlighting the increasing trend of student-led entrepreneurship and deep-tech innovation, a startup from IIT Guwahati attracted approximately 2,000 students from 23 IITs during the Inter IIT Tech Meet. This event provided participants with practical experience in advanced algorithmic thinking and competitive problem-solving at a national level. Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd, a startup incubated by IIT-Guwahati BioNEST, co-sponsored the Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0, a premier annual technical festival that convenes some of the brightest engineering talents across the 23 IITs.

Founded by Adari Karthikeya and Shivansh Gupta, both third-year students at IIT Guwahati, Genuity IO significantly influenced the event by creating a no-prep problem statement focused on algorithmic optimization. This problem statement was one of the sponsor-curated challenges that motivated participants to utilize critical thinking and innovative strategies to tackle real-world technical problems, according to a statement from IIT-G.

The involvement of this student-founded startup in the nationally recognized Inter IIT Tech Meet highlights IIT Guwahati’s strong framework for deep-tech innovation and entrepreneurship. It also represents a rare instance where a startup founded by students from IIT Guwahati actively contributed to the technical agenda of a major IIT competition, which has historically been dominated by established industry participants.

Swapnil Sinha, CEO of IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, emphasized the growth of the entrepreneurial culture at IIT Guwahati, noting that the startup ecosystem in North East India is quickly transforming from potential to actual performance. This transformation is empowered by IITG BioNEST, which aids researchers and entrepreneurs in converting their ideas into market-viable businesses through structured mentorship, infrastructure support, and industry connections, thereby establishing the North East as a burgeoning hub for deep-tech and bio-innovation.

Furthermore, this achievement solidifies IIT Guwahati BioNEST’s reputation as a center for innovation and enhances the Institute’s visibility as a leading institution nurturing student startups that significantly contribute to India’s advancing technological landscape. Adari Karthikeya, co-founder and CEO of Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from IIT Guwahati and BioNEST, stating that this support enabled them to engage with top student innovators from across the IIT network at a national platform like the Inter IIT Tech Meet, marking the experience as both humbling and motivational for their team.
