60 kg ganja seized from government bus in Phansidewa; three taking into custody

Phansidewa, July 11: In a major drug bust, Ghoshpukur outpost police have seized 60 kg of ganja from a government bus and arrested three people in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Ujjwal Sheel of Dinhata, Amal Barman of Falakata and Atmik Pandey of Malda.
Acting on a tip-off, the police launched an operation on the National Highway at Ghoshpukur turn in Phansidewa late on Wednesday night. The targeted vehicle, a government passenger bus traveling from Siliguri to Kolkata, was stopped and searched.
During the search, about 60 kg of ganja hidden in three trolley bags kept in the cabin of the bus was recovered. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is said to be lakhs of rupees. Allegedly this contraband was being taken from Cooch Behar to Kolkata.
The three accused were presented in the Siliguri divisional court on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ghoshpukur outpost police has started a thorough investigation into the incident.
