Adani Group Denies Partnership With Chinese EV Maker BYD For Battery Production

On Monday, the Adani Group denied reports claiming it is seeking a partnership with Chinese EV giant BYD for battery manufacturing in India, calling them “baseless, inaccurate, and misleading.” The group also confirmed that it is not in talks with Beijing Welion New Energy Technology for any form of collaboration. This clarification came after a Bloomberg report suggested that Adani was exploring partnerships with Chinese renewable energy firms, including BYD and Welion, to expand its clean energy footprint. It was also reported that Gautam Adani was personally involved in discussions with BYD executives. The report noted that the group is aware of the political sensitivities surrounding collaborations with Chinese firms and is approaching the matter cautiously. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises’ stock rose 0.44% on Monday, trading at ₹2,361 per share after opening at ₹2,373. The group, which comprises 11 listed entities, has built a strong presence in India’s infrastructure sector, focusing on transport logistics and energy utilities, with global-standard operations and maintenance practices.
