AirAsia rolls out auto visa check for smoother travel experience

AirAsia has unveiled its new Auto Visa Check (AVC) feature on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com, enhancing the international travel experience with a seamless, tech-enabled check-in process. This strategic move is set to streamline visa verification for passengers flying to destinations requiring visas or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

AVC enables travellers to verify their visas in real time during online check-in—available from 14 days up to one hour before departure. Guests can scan the visa sticker on their passport or upload their e-visa, receiving their e-boarding pass instantly upon verification. This eliminates the need for manual checks at airport counters, cutting wait times and easing congestion. The feature is currently applicable to multiple-entry visas, while passengers with single or double-entry visas will still need to check in manually. Hand-carry travellers can head directly to the gate, while those with checked baggage can print bag tags at kiosks and drop them at dedicated counters.

In Guwahati, a key gateway for Northeast India’s international travellers, the AVC feature is expected to boost demand for AirAsia’s global routes. Local travel operators foresee higher interest among business and leisure flyers seeking faster, hassle-free international travel from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
