Ajmal Targets Assam CM, Seeks Legal Action Over Alleged Hate Speech

AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of repeatedly delivering hate speeches targeting a particular community and calling for legal action against him.

Ajmal alleged that for the past six months, the Chief Minister’s speeches have been directed against one community, creating division and tension in society. Referring to a recent controversy, he claimed that visuals had emerged showing Sarma “pointing a gun at some people from the Muslim community,” which he described as deeply disturbing.

“The court should order that he should not contest elections. He should be arrested immediately and sent to jail so that he comes to his senses,” Ajmal said. He further added that Sarma “does not deserve to remain in his chair even for a day.”

The remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, with leaders trading allegations over communal rhetoric, governance, and law-and-order issues.

There was no immediate response from the Chief Minister’s office to Ajmal’s statements.
