AkzoNobel India’s Project Revive, a skill-development initiative in decorative painting, has emerged as a catalyst for economic growth and social transformation in Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Over the past three years, the program has empowered more than 800 drug-rehabilitated youth with vocational skills, creating a skilled workforce and driving demand in local markets.
The initiative, launched in Manipur in 2021, expanded to Assam in 2023 and Arunachal Pradesh in 2024, covering 34 Drug Rehabilitation Centers (DRCs) across these states. Trainees not only gained professional painting expertise but also secured employment opportunities, enhancing financial stability and reducing relapse risks.
In Guwahati, the impact on the market has been particularly noteworthy. The city’s growing construction and home improvement sectors have absorbed a significant number of trained painters, addressing the demand for skilled labor. This influx of professionals has not only elevated service standards but also stimulated economic activity, benefiting businesses and consumers alike. Recognized at the 2nd North East CSR Awards 2024 in Guwahati, Project Revive reflects AkzoNobel’s commitment to sustainable development. “By empowering vulnerable youth, we’re not just building careers but also fostering economic resilience in the Northeast,” said RohitTotla, Executive Director, AkzoNobel India.
