Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass of the World Health Organization emphasized the growing global cancer burden, with projections showing a rise from 20 million cases in 2022 to 35 million by 2050. In India, the cancer burden is expected to nearly double by 2050, making preventive strategies crucial. Apollo’s leadership, through initiatives like the launch of new Breast Cancer Care guidelines, positions the institution as a global frontrunner in transforming cancer management.
Guwahati is increasingly becoming a hub for specialized cancer treatment, as local demand for advanced care grows. With over 390 oncologists and pioneering therapies like Pencil Beam Proton Therapy, Apollo Cancer Centres offer world-class treatment, expanding their reach to Guwahati and surrounding regions. The Apollo Cancer Conclave not only emphasized technological breakthroughs but also highlighted the need for comprehensive, patient-centric cancer care in India’s growing healthcare landscape.
