Aqua North East Summit On Dec 12 To Focus On Aquaculture Growth In Region

The maiden edition of the Aqua North East Summit 2025, a daylong event aimed at transforming the aquaculture landscape of the Northeastern region, will be organised in Guwahati on December 12. Aqua Doctor Solutions, along with Fishery.News, is organising the summit at Taj Vivanta in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, and supported by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).

The summit aims to build capacity for technology-driven aquaculture, improve coordination among stakeholders, and promote investment. It will address the region’s core challenges: productivity gaps, lack of scientific adoption, limited market linkages, value-chain inefficiencies, and climate-related vulnerabilities.

Various government bodies, institutions, startups, cooperatives, and progressive farmers are participating in the daylong event, which seeks to shape the future of aquaculture in the Northeast.

Key topics include species diversification; cold-chain development; AI, IoT and digital farming technologies; sustainability; and financial inclusion through government schemes such as the PMMSY. The engaging sessions will feature networking opportunities, product showcases and industry-government dialogues.

Addressing a media conference in Guwahati on Thursday, Induvardhan Reddy Putana, founder and CEO of Fishery.News, said, “Northeast India has the potential to emerge as a leading aquaculture hub for the country. Through the Aqua North East Summit, we aim to bring science, technology, policy, and business together on a single platform. This summit will set the foundation for long-term growth and pave the way for the Aqua North East Expo 2026.”
