Assam govt conferred PM ward for excellence in public administration

The Government of Assam was conferred the Prime Minister’s Award for excellence in Public Administration, 2024, for the initiative ‘Shiksha Setu’, Axom, falling in the ‘Innovation-state’ category. The award was presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Civil Services Day, April 21. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma extended heartfelt congratulations to the team on the prestigious recognition, which highlighted the state’s dedication to transformative education reforms, as per the Chief Minister’s office.

The app, a comprehensive digital platform with 360-degree information on schools, students, and staff, was designed to serve as a single source of information for day-to- day administrative operations. In another achievement for the state, the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) set a new record by selling tea worth Rs 3,850 crore in the year 2024-25.

Dinesh Bihani, Secretary of Guwahati Tea Auction Buyers Association, on Tuesday told reporters that, in the FY 2024-25, the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre sold 169.13 million kg of tea with an average price of Rs 227.70 and the total turnover is Rs 3850 crore which is Rs 800 crore more compared to the previous year.
