In a move towards sustainable and eco-friendly energy usage, Assam minister Atul Bora inaugurated the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) project of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) in the Upper Assam town of Bokakhat on Monday.
“This landmark initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring cleaner, safer, and more convenient energy access for households across the greater Bokakhat town area,” Bora said.
The introduction of PNG will benefit a large number of residents by providing a safe and uninterrupted 24×7 supply of cooking gas.
“With no need for cylinder replacements, households will experience greater convenience, reduced storage requirements, and enhanced safety in their kitchens,” the minister said.
“The shift to piped natural gas also supports our broader commitment to sustainable and environment-friendly energy solutions,” he said.
AGCL Chairman and MLA of Sadiya, Bolin Chetia; Bokakhat Municipal Board Chairman Ratneswar Barua; other distinguished dignitaries; AGCL Independent Director Dhiren Handique, AGCL CGM (Technical) Rubul Boruah, HoD (City Gas Distribution), AGCL Utpol Doimari, other AGCL officials and local people were present on the occasion.
