Assam Police intercepted a Bangladeshi national attempting to cross the international border into India on October 29. The individual, identified as Md. Mustakin Islam, was apprehended near Karimganj and subsequently pushed back across the border. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the incident on X, commending the alertness of the police.
“Alert jawans of @assampolice apprehended one Bangladeshi national near the international border in Karimganj and pushed him back across the border. We will continue to keep a strict vigil along the border,” Sarma stated. This incident follows the recent detention of another Bangladeshi national, Imdadul Haque, who was held by authorities on Sunday at Golakganj Railway Station in Dhubri.
Haque, identified as the son of Mohammad Farman Ali from Mymensingh district in Bangladesh, reportedly entered India three to four days prior. He crossed the India-Bangladesh border near Bipinganj Mukti Yodha in Meghalaya and traveled towards Delhi before boarding a train back to Dhubri.
