The Motor Parivan Sewakarmi Sanmilita Mancha, Assam (Joutha Mancha, a United body/ platform for associations of Assam of motor transport owners, tour operators, self-employed owners and workers joint manch, comprising of associations of tourist cab operators (Dzire, Tata Sumo, Innova, Travellers etc), buses (Night and Day Supers), Trucks and Oil (Petroleum) Tankers Drivers and Owners Associations throughout Assam) have threathened to stop vehicles from plying to Meghalaya, including disrupting supply of essential commodities from 5 am of September 18.
The threat comes against the ban on tourists vehicles registered outside of Meghalaya specially from Assam at the tourists spots of Meghalaya. Condemning the decision of All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association(AKMTTA), Assam commercial vehicle groups have issued a two-day ultimatum to Meghalaya, demanding the rollback of a new restriction on tourist taxis from outside the state. The Assam Association have also threathened Meghalaya commercial vehicles from plying to Guwahati Airport and picking up passengers if the order from thier Meghalaya counterpart is not withdrawn.
