At Pathsala Meet, TMC Trains Guns on State Government and Congress, Unveils New Inductees

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a sharp attack on the state government and the Congress during a party meeting held at the Natya Mandir premises in Pathsala ahead of the upcoming elections.

Assam TMC Vice President Dulu Ahmed claimed that more than 15 Congress leaders who were denied party tickets have resigned and are set to join the Trinamool Congress to contest the polls. The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, who outlined the party’s strategy for the forthcoming elections and supervised a joining programme.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting, Dulu Ahmed expressed regret that the killer of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has not yet been identified. He alleged that appealing to the Chief Minister would be futile, claiming that the latter does not listen to the people of Assam and therefore would not consider his concerns either.

Sushmita Dev indicated that the Trinamool Congress would field a candidate from the Bajali constituency this time, hinting that Kalyani Kalita could be a probable nominee.

Continuing his criticism of the Congress, Dulu Ahmed urged party workers to confront Rakibul Hussain, stating that he would praise the Congress only after such action is taken. He also sharply criticised Rekibuddin Ahmed and announced that he would contest the elections from the Chamaria constituency.

Meanwhile, Sushmita Dev expressed disappointment that despite repeated appeals to the government to hand over Zubeen Garg’s ashes for immersion in the Barak river, the ashes have not yet been received.
