Two of the five accused in the Zubeen Garg death case, Shyam Kanu Mahanta and Sandipon Garg, withdrew their bail petitions during a court hearing at the Sessions Judge Kamrup (Metro) in Guwahati. Their withdrawal was granted after their counsels cited “certain developments and personal and legal reasons.” Zubeen’s wife, Garima Garg, also submitted a written objection against the bail petitions of the remaining three accused: Amrit Prava Mahanta, Nandeswar Borah, and Paresh Baishya, which the Special Public Prosecutor supported with a written objection. The court scheduled January 30 for a decision on the bail petitions.
