Bharatiya Janata Party Urges Election Commission of India to Hold Assam Polls Before Rongali Bihu

BJP delegation met the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, in Guwahati and urged him to hold the Assembly polls in Assam before Rongali Bihu, one of the biggest festivals in the state. On behalf of the BJP, Member of Parliament and Convenor of the State Election Committee Pradan Baruah, former Education Minister and Convenor of the Election Manifesto Committee Siddhartha Bhattacharya, and Convenor of the State Election Cell Dhrubajyoti Dauka urged the Election Commission to conduct the elections prior to Rongali Bihu. They emphasized that Assam today enjoys vastly improved road infrastructure, enhanced connectivity, and a stable law-and-order environment. In light of these transformative developments, they appealed to the Commission to complete the electoral process across the entire state within a minimal and consolidated timeframe, stated a press release. During the deliberations, the Chief Election Commissioner was accompanied by Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi and Chief Electoral Officer of Assam Anurag Goel, along with other senior officials of the Commission.
