BJP inaugurates first mandal office in Assam under CM Sarma’s leadership

To boost the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) grassroots presence in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the establishment of permanent party offices across all mandals in the state. The initiative was officially launched on Sunday with the inauguration of the Sualkuchi Mandal office in Kamrup (Rural) district. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, CM Sarma highlighted the importance of the project, describing it as a transformative step towards deeper community engagement. “Today marks a historic day as we open this modern office equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. This model will be replicated across Assam, enabling us to enhance our connection with the people,” he said. Sarma also revealed that the majority of these offices are expected to be operational by 2026, ahead of the next state elections.

These offices, Sarma explained, are designed to serve as vital hubs for addressing local issues and fostering collaboration with residents. “They will help us stay in constant touch with the people, understand their concerns, and work together for their welfare,” he added. The initiative underscores the BJP’s focus on grassroots engagement as a core strategy for political outreach. The event was attended by Union Minister Pabitra Margherita, North Kamrup BJP president Subal Pal, and other prominent leaders, all of whom commended the initiative as a significant step in strengthening the party’s reach.

Adding to the day’s milestones, CM Sarma also launched the ambitious Palasbari-Sualkuchi Bridge project. Spanning 12.2 kilometers across the Brahmaputra River, the bridge is set to enhance connectivity between Palasbari and Sualkuchi. With an estimated budget of Rs. 3,190 crore, the project—whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2023—is expected to be completed by 2028. Once operational, the bridge is anticipated to significantly boost regional transportation and infrastructure development.
