Assam Police successfully prevented two Bangladeshi nationals from illegally crossing the international border at Karimganj on September 20. The individuals, identified as Dilara Begum and Shoel Hawladar, were intercepted and immediately sent back across the border.
This incident is part of a growing trend of recent border interceptions. Just a day earlier, on September 19, four Bangladeshi nationals were spotted near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Karimganj and swiftly deported. In another case on September 16, five Bangladeshi nationals were detained during a checkpoint operation in South Salmara Mankachar district.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the police for their swift action, stating in a tweet: “In line with our zero-tolerance policy towards illegal infiltration, Assam Police successfully pushed back individuals attempting to cross the international border at Karimganj.”
