BTC passes ₹843 cr budget for FY 2025–26, eyes ‘Vibrant BTR Mission’

The two-day Budget Session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) for the financial year 2025–2026 concluded today, with the House passing an estimated budget of Rs 843 crore. The budget, which was presented by Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Finance In-charge of the BTC, Pramod Boro, marks a significant step towards fulfilling the council’s vision for development and progress in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The budget, based on the theme ‘Vibrant BTR Mission: Sangharsh to Nirman 2025–26’, focuses on a people-centric approach, with an emphasis on need-based asset creation and effective implementation of various schemes and projects aimed at sustainable development. Additionally, a special allocation from the State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme will provide further support to the council’s initiatives.

In his address, Boro highlighted the importance of comprehensive planning for the region’s growth. “This year’s budget reflects our vision for a Vibrant BTR Mission, grounded in the principles of good governance, social harmony, and holistic development,” he said, laying out a roadmap for the coming fiscal year. Despite the optimistic outlook presented by the ruling council, the Opposition expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that the budget did not sufficiently address the pressing issues of public welfare, especially concerns related to the daily lives of the people in the region.
