Capacity Building Programme on Bio-Fortified Rice Varieties Held in Tawang

A comprehensive capacity building training and interaction programme focused on bio-fortified rice varieties was held for farmers in Tawang, organized by KVK Tawang in collaboration with the ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad Telangana. The event took place at Zomkhang Hall in Tawang on Monday, with Keertika Kashyap, DDC, NABARD, Tawang serving as the chief guest, and Nawang Chonzom, chairperson of the Tawang Green Farmers Producer Company, attending as guest of honour. Notable dignitaries included Dr. C. N. Neeraja, a Principal Scientist from NEH, ICAR-IIRR, alongside other experts such as Dr. Jyoti Badri and Dr. Kalyani M.

The training programme aimed to inform farmers about bio-fortified rice varieties that are well-suited for hilly regions, emphasizing their nutritional and agronomic advantages. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by Dr. Anjanand Tripathy, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Tawang. It concluded with the distribution of bio-fortified rice seeds, developed by ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad, providing farmers with practical resources for cultivation.
