A major commotion broke out at the Dibrugarh railway police station after a couple was caught engaging in objectionable activities within the station premises. The incident led to a crowd gathering and vandalizing the station, leaving one person injured.
The couple was initially detained by railway police personnel for inappropriate behavior. However, the situation escalated rapidly when the male detainee alerted others to his detention. A large crowd soon surrounded the police station, breaking furniture and shattering windows in protest.
In the ensuing chaos, the officer in charge of the station was allegedly assaulted by several men from the crowd. Protesters also accused the police of misconduct, claiming that officers routinely engage in illegal activities, including consuming alcohol within the station.
During the melee, one man sustained a serious head injury, leaving him bleeding profusely. Authorities are investigating the incident, and further action is expected in the coming days.
