The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has partnered with Pilani Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Society (PIEDS) of BITS Pilani to launch incubation programs aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) students. The initiative combines BITS Pilani’s academic excellence with DGT’s robust training ecosystem to create a future-ready workforce and support start-ups.
The collaboration introduces the Innovation Challenge and the Open Incubation Program, focusing on nurturing entrepreneurial talent. The Innovation Challenge includes a Women NSTI Track to bridge the gender gap in innovation, while the Open Incubation Program offers a six-month grant-based initiative covering ideation, mentorship, and funding.
In Guwahati, a growing hub for skilled professionals in Northeast India, this initiative is expected to catalyze start-up opportunities. With its thriving local markets and demand for innovative solutions, Guwahati provides an ideal platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to leverage mentorship and funding support under the program.“The partnership bridges the gap between education and industry, creating opportunities for youth to innovate and succeed,” said Trishaljit Sethi, Director General Training, MSDE.This initiative aligns with India’s broader skilling overhaul, driven by a ₹60,000 crore investment, to equip students with industry-relevant skills and drive economic growth.
