Diageo India, in partnership with BharatCares and the Government of Assam, unveiled the TAPOVAN Elder Care Home in Sonitpur district, marking a significant step in enhancing elder care infrastructure in the region. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Shri. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, emphasized the collaborative effort to support the welfare of senior citizens.
Funded through Diageo India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, TAPOVAN features state-of-the-art amenities including bedrooms, washrooms, dining facilities, and recreational areas designed to cater to the needs of elderly residents. The facility is also tailored to be Persons with Disability (PwD) friendly, promoting inclusivity in its design.Ashish Parikh, EVP & Chief Operating Officer, Diageo India, highlighted the company’s commitment to societal well-being. “TAPOVAN exemplifies our dedication to fostering a supportive environment for senior citizens, aligning with our broader ESG goals,” he remarked.
Local dignitaries including Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner of Sonitpur, and Shri. Prithviraj Rabha, MLA-Tezpur, commended the initiative for its positive impact on the community.Future plans include expanding TAPOVAN to other locations, underscoring Diageo India’s commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility in Assam.
