East Bengal could not win the derby on Sunday, explained three Mohunbagani

Australian striker Dimitri Petratos scored a goal and two assists in the derby.  After the match, he told the ISL website, “I went on the field and gave my best for the team, teammates and fans.  The goal was to get three points.  Played well as a team, worked hard and won.  That is the most desirable.”

“East Bengal put more pressure on us in the second half,” Petratos said of East Bengal’s comeback.  They put us under pressure throughout the second half.  Because they were all playing together.  We were also unlucky not to capitalize on the opportunities in the second half.  But the fact that I won is the real thing.”

The same was heard in the mouth of the captain Shubashis Basu.  He said, “The goal in the second half was to maintain the three-goal gap.  There were also plans to increase the gap.  Unfortunately I couldn’t.  East Bengal had nothing to lose then.  So leaving only one in the defense, four or five players are equally given to the attack.  At that time we had no choice but to defend.  In the second half we also had a few chances from every attack.  But couldn’t score from them.”
