Glenmark Foundation has announced a strategic partnership with the Centre for North East Studies & Policy Research (C-NES) and the Darrang District Administration to launch an innovative boat clinic program. This initiative aims to revolutionize maternal and child health in Assam by providing mobile healthcare services to remote and flood-prone riverine communities.
The state-of-the-art boat clinic will offer essential medical services including immunizations, prenatal care, and health education. It is equipped with a laboratory and pharmacy to address healthcare challenges posed by seasonal flooding and geographical isolation. A dedicated medical team comprising doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and pharmacists will operate the clinic, ensuring continuous access to critical health services.
Nayana Parasher, DPM NHM Darrang, highlighted the program’s significance, stating, “The Boat Clinic will bridge a critical gap in healthcare access.” District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey praised the initiative’s potential to enhance health services in remote areas.
Since 2008, C-NES has been delivering similar services across 14 districts. With this expansion into Darrang, Sanjoy Hazarika, Founder of C-NES, noted, “This initiative will significantly improve healthcare access for marginalized populations.”
Cheryl Pinto, Executive Director– Corporate Services at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, emphasized the collaborative effort’s impact, stating, “This Boat Clinic is a testament to our commitment to innovative health solutions for underserved communities.”
