Godrej Agrovet executives have praised the 2025 budget for its strong emphasis on strengthening the agricultural sector and empowering farmers. Managing Director Balram Singh Yadav highlighted the budget’s comprehensive approach, citing initiatives like the increased Kisan Credit Card loan limit (from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh) and the drive for self-sufficiency in pulses and edible oils as key drivers towards a “Viksit Bharat.”
He stated the budget’s focus on high-yielding, climate-resilient seeds and boosting cotton productivity. Rajavelu N.K., CEO of Godrej Agrovet’s Crop Protection Business, lauded the focus on crop productivity and protection, particularly the Mission for Cotton Productivity and the Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana. He stressed the importance of integrating crop protection, sustainable farming, and robust post-harvest infrastructure for enhanced farmer incomes and food security. He also acknowledged the proposals to reopen dormant urea plants and involve FPOs in fruit and vegetable initiatives while emphasizing the need for awareness of urea’s usage.
In Guwahati, a key agricultural market in Northeast India, these budget proposals are expected to have a significant impact. The increased loan limits and focus on crop diversification could stimulate agricultural activity in the region, boosting trade and benefiting local businesses. The emphasis on post-harvest infrastructure could also improve market access for farmers in the Northeast, allowing them to fetch better prices for their produce.
