Godrej Agrovet Limited, in partnership with ICAR-CIFE, has launched ArgoRid, a breakthrough fish lice controller aimed at addressing the $62.5 million annual loss caused by Argulus infections in Indian aquaculture. ArgoRid offers a farmer-friendly, easy-to-use formulation that eliminates fish lice, promotes wound healing, and enhances fish immunity.
Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable farming. “ArgoRid is a game-changer for fish farmers, combining ICAR-CIFE’s expertise with our extensive distribution network to drive advancements in aquaculture,” he said.
India, the world’s third-largest fish producer, stands to benefit significantly from this innovation, particularly in regions like Assam, where aquaculture plays a vital economic role. In Guwahati, a key market for fish trade in the Northeast, ArgoRid could improve productivity and profitability for fish farmers. By addressing seasonal productivity challenges, the product is expected to strengthen the local supply chain and enhance the market’s position as a hub for quality fish produce.
