Godrej Consumer Products ranked World’s No.1 sustainable FMCG firm on Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index 2025

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has been ranked No.1 globally in the FMCG category on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Sustainability Index 2025, marking the first time the company has secured the top position on the globally recognised benchmark. The emerging markets FMCG major scored 89 out of 100 in the Personal Products category in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which evaluated more than 3,500 companies worldwide. The assessment measures companies across environmental, social and governance (ESG) parameters including emission reduction, raw material sourcing, packaging management, water stewardship, labour practices and product disposal.

The recognition also marks a milestone for GCPL as the company completed 10 consecutive years of participation in the S&P Global CSA, highlighting its decade-long focus on transparency, measurable sustainability action and integrating ESG priorities into core business strategy. Commenting on the achievement, Sudhir Sitapati, Managing Director & CEO, GCPL, said the ranking represents a defining milestone for the company. “Sustainability is deeply embedded in our purpose of bringing the goodness of health and beauty to consumers in emerging markets. Our progress in greener products, water positivity, climate action and energy efficiency reflects this commitment,” he said.

Pakzan Dastoor, Head – Sustainability & CSR, Godrej Industries Group, said the recognition reflects years of consistent efforts under the Godrej Group’s Good & Green philosophy, integrating emission reduction, sustainable sourcing and waste management into daily operations. In Guwahati, sustainability-led FMCG brands are gradually gaining traction in Assam’s urban retail landscape. Traders in the city say consumers are showing greater preference for environmentally responsible personal care and household products, indicating growing awareness of sustainable consumption patterns in the Northeast. Acknowledging the milestone, Robert Dornau, Senior Director and Head of Corporate Solutions & Engagements at S&P Global Sustainable, said completing a decade of participation in the CSA demonstrates GCPL’s long-standing commitment to meaningful sustainability action.
