Godrej DEI Lab and Khaitan& Co unveiled the second edition of Khaitan& Co’s Handbook on Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Disability Inclusion Summit in Mumbai, commemorating International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The handbook serves as a guide for businesses to transition from compliance-driven to purpose-driven disability inclusion.
Parmesh Shahani, Head of Godrej DEI Lab, emphasized, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in creating equitable corporate spaces. The handbook will aid organizations in integrating meaningful inclusion strategies.” Aakash Choubey, Partner, Khaitan& Co, added, “Inclusivity is not just a legal mandate but a business imperative, enriching workplaces with diverse perspectives.”
The handbook delves into crucial legislations such as the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. It outlines best practices in employment, education, and accessibility, ensuring an inclusive work culture. For Guwahati, a burgeoning market hub in Northeast India, adopting these strategies could set a benchmark for inclusive business practices. Promoting accessible infrastructure and tailored hiring practices would position Guwahati as a progressive and inclusive commercial destination.
