Godrej Industries Group has partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) India to launch the Youth Council Programme, marking a significant step in fostering youth-driven initiatives for environmental and social transformation.
The initiative, unveiled in the presence of Burjis Godrej, Executive Director of Godrej Agrovet Limited, and Dr. Jane Goodall, renowned primatologist and anthropologist, is part of JGI’s global Roots & Shoots program. It aims to unite young voices from diverse backgrounds to design and lead community-centered projects addressing pressing global challenges.
Burjis Godrej, a mentor for the program, stated, “Rooted in empathy and kindness, this council stands for acts of goodness—protecting our environment, advancing animal welfare, and supporting causes that make a positive difference.” He added that the initiative aspires to nurture empathetic leaders equipped to inspire others through action and compassion.
Dr. Goodall highlighted the power of youth in driving change, noting, “Young people give me hope. When they unite for a cause, their collective action creates visible positive impacts.” The event also recognized exemplary Roots & Shoots mentors, Valerie Mascarenhas and Vandana Pandey, for their outstanding youth-led programs in Mumbai and Ayodhya schools.
