Godrej Jersey’s latest survey, Bottoms Up…India Says Cheers to Milk!, reveals that 60% of Indian parents give milk to their children primarily to maintain adequate calcium intake. The nationwide study, covering Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata, found that milk plays a vital role not just in providing essential nutrients, but also in promoting fitness, weight management, and energy.
Hyderabad topped the list, with 66% of parents choosing milk for its calcium content, while Lucknow and Kolkata had the lowest preference at 55%. “Milk’s nutritional benefits are well-documented globally, and it remains a key dietary component for children’s growth,” said Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey.
The survey also found that 90% of children consume milk more than 4-5 times a week, and over 40% of parents are willing to offer flavored milk as a school meal or during playtime. In Guwahati, local parents are also increasingly opting for milk as a key nutritional source for their children. This aligns with a broader regional shift towards health-conscious choices, further fueling the demand for quality dairy products in the city.
