As the foundation work for the much-anticipated Cycle Factory Flyover begins, Guwahati’s traffic flow will experience significant changes. Starting August 19, 2024, motorists will face new routes and regulations as construction progresses from the Cycle Factory to Barsapara Junction.
The Guwahati Traffic Police have issued an advisory outlining these crucial updates. Among the major changes, the stretch between Birubari Tiniali and Barsapara Tiniali will be designated as a one-way route. Vehicles from Arya Nagar or Birubari Tiniali will be directed exclusively towards Barsapara Tiniali, aiming to reduce congestion along this key corridor. In the coming phases, once initial foundation work is complete, the section between Birubari Tiniali and the Cycle Factory point will reopen partially, allowing two-way traffic to resume, which should ease the daily commute.
Additionally, motorists traveling from Lalganesh to the Cycle Factory area will encounter a diversion at Barsapara Tiniali. Vehicles will be rerouted via Kula Basumatary Road, in front of ACA Stadium, towards Dhirenpara Tiniali on A.K. Dev Road. From there, drivers can proceed either to NH-27 or towards Ambari Tiniali/Fatasil Chariali.
While temporary, these changes are essential for the successful completion of the Cycle Factory Flyover, which promises long-term improvements to the city’s traffic infrastructure. The Guwahati Traffic Police urge all commuters to stay informed and plan their routes carefully to avoid delays.
