A seminar-cum-workshop on the Code of Practices for Distribution Transformer (DT) Repair, Operation, and Maintenance was successfully organized by the International Copper Association India (ICAI) and the Indian Transformer Manufacturers Association (ITMA) at Vivanta Guwahati. The event, supported by key bodies such as the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), aimed to enhance the performance and reliability of distribution transformers, crucial for efficient power delivery.
Shri Syedain Abbasi, IAS, Chairman of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), highlighted the significance of adopting best practices in DT repair and maintenance. He stressed that transformers are vital to the distribution network and their optimal functioning is essential to avoid revenue loss and ensure quality power supply. “Such workshops are key to improving operational performance and reliability,” he said.
The event also attracted professionals from various sectors, including operation and maintenance engineers, DT manufacturers, and industry experts. From a Guwahati market perspective, the demand for advanced transformer technology is rising, as businesses and residents alike seek more reliable power solutions to fuel the city’s growing infrastructure and industrial developments.
