The Guwahati passenger ropeway, connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati at Kacharighat, will be closed for 10 days from October 15 to October 24 for annual maintenance works and rescue mock drills. The closure is in response to the passing away of Marathi actor Atul Parchure at the age of 57. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) stated that normal operations will resume on October 25. The ropeway’s operation will remain closed from October 15 to October 24, i.e., 10 days, for annual maintenance works and rescue mock drills. The ropeway’s normal operations will resume on October 25. The closure comes as the city grapples with the aftermath of Durga Puja, which saw over ₹20 crore worth of liquor seized and one death and 120 injuries reported.
