The heat wave is going to intensify in the coming days; at least that’s what the Alipur Meteorological Department has given a glimpse of. While North Bengal districts received light to moderate rains, South Bengal has to be spared for the time being. Rather, residents of South Bengal should be prepared to bear more heat. The heat will continue, along with the heat waves. The Meteorological Office has issued a heat wave warning for the districts of South Bengal until Sunday.
The temperature is touching 40 degrees in Kolkata too. The sky will be clear on Wednesday morning. There is no chance of rain in the next 24 hours. Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 29.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 39 degrees Celsius, said the Meteorological Department. The maximum temperature in the city on Tuesday was 39.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees Celsius above the normal temperature. The maximum humidity in the air will be 89 percent. As a result, an uncomfortable situation will persist.
According to weather office sources, the temperature of South Bengal may increase by 2-3 degrees in the next three days. Seven places in the state crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark on Monday. Within 24 hours, that number doubled on Tuesday. A total of 14 places in the state touched the 40 degree Celsius mark on Tuesday.
But the people of North Bengal can get some relief in this heat. The weather office forecasts that the remaining districts of North Bengal, except Maldah, North Dinajpur, and South Dinajpur districts, may get drenched with light to moderate rain.
