Hero MotoCorp achieves 100% zero-waste-to-landfill certification across all facilities

Hero MotoCorp has achieved 100% Zero-Waste-to-Landfill (ZWL) certification across all its eight facilities in India. This milestone, announced on World Environment Day, underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability.

“Sustainability is a commitment in our journey to be an environment-friendly business,” said Niranjan Gupta, CEO of Hero MotoCorp. “Our zero-waste-to-landfill policy is rooted in our belief that manufacturing with an unflinching commitment to the environment is as important as providing quality and fuel-efficient products.” The ZWL initiative began as a pilot project at Hero’s Neemrana facility in 2018-19, achieving a 40% reduction in waste and a 99.9% diversion rate well ahead of the 2025 target.

The company implemented a water-based painting system, robotic painting processes, and upgraded to zirconium-based paint pre-treatment, significantly reducing hazardous waste and water consumption.Sunil B. Medge, Regional Manager at Intertek India, praised Hero’s waste management innovations, including the upcycling of grinding sludge into Ferric Alum for the textile and water treatment industries.
