Heroin Worth ₹3.25 Crore Seized in Cachar District, Five Held

Security forces seized heroin worth Rs 3.25 crore in Assam’s Cachar district and arrested five persons in this connection. The arrests and recovery of the contraband substance were made from two vehicles on Saturday. A police official said that the operation was jointly carried out by Cachar Police and Assam Rifles conducted on the Silchar-Kalain Road on the basis of a specific intelligence input. “During the operation, 538 grams of heroin were found in 48 soap cases. Five persons were arrested and six mobile phones have been seized from them,” the official said. The CMO, in a post on X, said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded the team for their clinical execution, reaffirming that Assam’s fight against drugs will continue with zero compromise until the state becomes totally drug-free.
