Hrithik Roshan Applauds Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’, Hails Shahid Kapoor’s Performance

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has taken to social media to shower praise on Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest cinematic offering, O’Romeo, urging his fans and followers to experience the gritty gangster drama on the big screen. In a post shared on February 20, 2026, the War 2 actor expressed his delight after watching the film, noting that while it possesses a distinct quirkiness, the narrative eventually “wins you over.” Roshan specifically highlighted the performance of lead actor Shahid Kapoor, stating that the “romantic rogue” genre is one that Kapoor masters better than anyone else in the industry. The actor also singled out a particular “running in circles” action sequence as a moment of pure technical brilliance, calling it one of his favorite highlights of the film. Shahid Kapoor, who plays the feared underworld figure Haseen Ustara, responded warmly to the praise, noting how special it felt to receive such an endorsement from an actor he has admired since his college days.

Released on February 13, 2026, to coincide with the Valentine’s Day weekend, O’Romeo marks the fourth high-profile collaboration between director Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor, following their successful runs with Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon. Inspired by a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s acclaimed book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film tells a visceral tale of violence and passion centered on a cold-blooded gangster who finds himself tamed by love when he meets Afshan, played by Triptii Dimri. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics regarding its nearly three-hour runtime, the film has found solid footing at the box office, crossing the ₹75 crore mark globally in its first week. Bhardwaj himself has remained defiant against critical backlash, recently declaring the project as one of his most successful and personally fulfilling works to date. With an ensemble cast featuring Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, and Tamannaah Bhatia, and music by Gulzar and Bhardwaj himself, the film continues to draw audiences with its signature blend of poetic grit and atmospheric noir.
