IFFCO applauds Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, pave way for cooperative growth

The passage of the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, 2025, in the LokSabha on March 26 marks a historic moment for India’s cooperative sector. IFFCO, the world’s No.1 cooperative, has welcomed the initiative, calling it a game-changer for rural empowerment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.

Union Minister of Cooperation and Home Affairs Amit Shah emphasized that the university will create a new generation of cooperative leaders, equipped with modern education and research capabilities. Dr. Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO, lauded the initiative, stating that it will transform Indian agriculture and rural development, while IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani highlighted its role in training professionals for global cooperative markets.

With over 8 lakh professionals expected to be trained annually, the university is set to become a hub for cooperative education and research. International Cooperative Alliance Director General Jeroen Douglas hailed it as a significant step for the global cooperative movement, strengthening India’s leadership in the sector.
