In a First, GI-Tagged Ginger from Karbi Anglong Exported to London

In a significant export initiative, Assam’s Agriculture Minister Atul Bora announced the dispatch of the first-ever consignment of GI-tagged ginger from Karbi Anglong district to London, with the flag-off taking place at Krishi Bhawan in Guwahati. This consignment comprises 21.2 metric tons of premium fresh ginger sourced directly from local farmers, marking a historic achievement for Assam’s agricultural export sector. Minister Bora expressed pride in this event, emphasizing its role in showcasing the state’s high-quality agricultural produce on a global platform. He noted that this milestone demonstrates the government’s dedication to enhancing farmers’ income, promoting value addition, and establishing strong international market connections for Assam’s GI-tagged products. Bora praised the collaborative efforts of APEDA and NextOn Foods Pvt. Ltd. in making the export possible and reiterated the government’s commitment to increasing agricultural production, promoting quality, and ensuring that Assam’s farmers gain international recognition and economic benefits.
