India invests in Chitwan, Nepal, community development project launched with financial backing

India has injected financial support into a pivotal project in Chitwan, Nepal. The inauguration of the Apron Dhungre Khola River Training Work Project marks a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation and infrastructure enhancement. Led by Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the inauguration ceremony showcased India’s commitment to bolstering Nepal’s development trajectory. With a tender cost totaling Nepalese INR 3.67 crore, this venture stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations.

Official statements from the Indian Embassy underscored the project’s significance, emphasizing its classification as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). Jointly inaugurated by Avinash Kumar Singh and Shashi Kumar, Mayor of Khairahani Municipality, the endeavor promises to address pressing challenges such as agricultural land erosion and river flood mitigation.

Mayor Shashi Kumar commended India’s steadfast support, highlighting its instrumental role in advancing Nepali communities’ welfare. The project’s focus on river training activities aligns with both nations’ commitment to resilience-building against natural disasters, thereby fostering sustainable growth and development in the region.
