India showcases skilled workforce on 76th Republic Day, honors 100 entrepreneurs

Celebrating the 76th Republic Day, Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, honored 100 entrepreneurs at a special event in Kaushal Bhawan. Recognized as pivotal contributors to India’s innovation under the Skill India Mission, these entrepreneurs also attended the Republic Day parade as special guests.

Chaudhary, fresh from the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, highlighted India’s growing stature as a global skill hub. “India’s skilled workforce is earning global acclaim, and our entrepreneurs are key to this transformation,” he stated. Discussions at Davos included sustainability, AI, and women-led development.

India’s robust start-up ecosystem boasts 118 unicorns valued at $354 billion. The MSME sector, comprising 63 million enterprises, employs over 11 crore people and contributes 30% to GDP. Entrepreneurs like Jharkhand’s Ritendra Prasad, who transitioned from an EDP program to launching a solar business, exemplify this growth. Kolkata, a bustling hub of trade and innovation, reflects India’s entrepreneurial spirit. Its skilled workforce, especially in tech and manufacturing, is driving business growth. Government initiatives have further enhanced opportunities, boosting exports and job creation.
