A 60-member team from India has landed in Lyon, France, to participate in WorldSkills 2024, the largest international skilling competition. Running from September 10-15 at Euroexpo Lyon, the event will see 1,400 competitors and 1,300 experts from over 70 countries.
India’s team, the largest ever sent, will compete in 52 skill categories, marking a significant leap from the 2022 edition. Notably, this year features a breakthrough with women representing the country in traditionally male-dominated skills like Welding and Plumbing.Experts from India are also key players in managing precision skills like Turning and Milling, ensuring that the competition upholds WorldSkills’ high standards. The competition is expected to attract over 2.5 lakh participants.
Backed by more than 100 industry and academic partners, including Toyota Kirloskar and Maruti, the Indian team underwent extensive training, both domestically and internationally, in countries like South Korea and Switzerland. This aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global hub for skilled talent.With rigorous preparation, including yoga and psychological training, Team India is set to showcase its expertise on the global stage.
