India’s Skill Convocation 2024 celebrates 8 lakh graduates, swhowcases new AI and industry-aligned programs

At the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated over 8 lakh skilled graduates, calling India a global “powerhouse of skilled talent.” The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) hosted the event across 15,000 ITIs and 33 NSTIs, with the central ceremony held at New Delhi’s Kaushal Bhawan and live-streamed nationwide to more than 19 lakh students.

Addressing graduates, PM Modi emphasized their critical role in building a self-reliant India, or Aatmanirbhar Bharat. With an 87.34% pass rate in the All India Trade Test and a new 84.73% success rate for CITS instructors, the event highlighted MSDE’s achievements. The ceremony recognized top-performing students, including those from trades such as engineering, new-age technologies, and Flexi-MoU programs.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Skill Development), announced AI-focused modules for ITI students and new instructional materials in high-demand trades, encouraging industry and local leaders to support ITI upgrades. Para-athlete Ms. Preethi Pal, guest of honor, shared her journey of resilience, inspiring graduates to overcome challenges. MSDE’s alignment with emerging industry needs marks a critical step toward enhancing India’s role on the global skills stage.
