India’s 60-member contingent, led by flagbearer Shreyansh Sharma from Rajasthan, is set to compete in 52 skills at the prestigious WorldSkills 2024, inaugurated by French President Emmanuel Macron in Lyon. Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, attended the opening ceremony to support the Indian team.
Representing a variety of fields including 3D Digital Game Art, Cloud Computing, Welding, and Fashion Technology, the Indian team aims to compete against participants from over 70 countries. Chaudhary emphasized, “Our young champions are the future drivers of innovation, shaping India’s place on the global skills stage.”
Guwahati, known for its growing focus on technology and manufacturing sectors, is keenly watching the outcomes of WorldSkills 2024. The event is expected to provide valuable insights and boost opportunities for local businesses, especially in sectors like IT and industrial manufacturing, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as a skilled talent hub.WorldSkills 2024, referred to as the “Olympics of Skills,” will take place from September 10-15, with over 1,400 competitors vying for top honors in various skill categories.
