India is gearing up to showcase its emerging talent at the WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France, with 60 top competitors set to demonstrate their skills across 61 categories. The team, selected from over 900 participants at IndiaSkills 2024, will reach New Delhi on 1st September for final training, including yoga, psychological assessments, and nutritional advice. The national send-off ceremony, scheduled for 3rd September at Kaushal Bhawan, will be attended by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Education.
With over 52 WorldSkills experts and 100+ industry partners involved in their training, the Indian contingent is one of the largest and most prepared teams ever sent to this prestigious event. In 2022, India achieved a remarkable 11th place with 13 Medallions of Excellence, including two silver and three bronze medals.
Guwahati is abuzz with heightened interest in vocational training, driven by the national team’s achievements. The WorldSkills 2024 participation is expected to boost local skill development initiatives, enhancing job prospects and industry standards in the region. This growing enthusiasm aligns with the broader national focus on elevating skill levels and preparing youth for global competition.
