New Delhi, May 19, 2024 — The grand finale of the IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 wrapped up on Sunday at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, showcasing the exceptional talents of young competitors from across the nation. Held from May 15th to 19th, the event saw 58 winners emerging from a pool of over 900 candidates across 52 skills, who will now represent India at WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France this September.
Odisha led the medal tally with 17 Gold, 13 Silver, 9 Bronze, and 12 Medallion for Excellence, followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The competition featured a diverse range of skills, from traditional crafts like Wall and Floor Tiling and Carpentry to modern technologies such as Cloud Computing and Autonomous Mobile Robotics.
Distinguished guests, including Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; filmmaker Padmashri Shri Ramesh Sippy; and actor Aparshakti Khurana, attended the closing ceremony. Shri Tiwari praised the event’s organization and the competitors’ dedication, noting the unprecedented scale with over 2,50,000 applications and increased female participation. Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, Chairman of NCVET, highlighted the rigorous selection process from district to national levels, and expressed hope for even more female participation in future competitions. Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, commended the participants’ skills and the event’s role in promoting vocational training.
