Indus Towers Limited, in collaboration with the Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID), has launched a significant CSR initiative to improve sanitation facilities for girls in 12 government schools across seven districts in Assam. The first phase was inaugurated by Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Assam’s Education Minister, at Nartap M.E. School in Kamrup Metro.
The project, part of Indus Towers’ flagship CSR program “Pragati,” aims to align with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This initiative includes the installation of state-of-the-art washrooms and the implementation of menstrual hygiene awareness workshops. The targeted districts include Kamrup Metro, Nagaon, Morigaon, Baksa, Tamulpur, Dhubri, and Bongaigaon.
Dr. Pegu lauded the project’s potential to enhance educational outcomes by improving sanitation. Dr. Om Prakash, Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Assam, called for other corporates to engage in similar efforts. MLA Atul Bora expressed his support for ongoing CSR initiatives in Assam. Rajender Gurung, Circle CEO of Indus Towers, highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment through this initiative. The partnership with NEAID reflects a broader commitment to improving educational infrastructure and student well-being.
