JSW MG Motor India is accelerating its domestic presence with a planned investment of ₹3,000 crore to ₹4,000 crore over the next two years. Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra confirmed the launch of four new models in 2026, spearheaded by the MG Majestor, a premium D+ segment SUV set for an April release to rival the Toyota Fortuner.
The 2026 lineup signals a major tilt toward “New Energy Vehicles” (NEVs), featuring a battery electric vehicle (EV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) the latter aiming to be India’s first mass-market offering in that segment. To support this growth, the company is expanding its Halol plant capacity from 1.2 lakh to 3 lakh units annually.
Despite recent tax changes affecting EV penetration, Mehrotra remains bullish, citing strong adoption in Tier-II and Tier-III towns. The joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC also plans to deepen localization to shield against global supply chain volatility, ensuring that 75–80% of its future portfolio remains focused on green technology.
