The Medicity, India’s Best Private Hospital for six consecutive years as per Newsweek, has rolled out an educational video promoting a simple, three-minute self-breast examination aimed at early detection of breast cancer. The initiative, part of its “Jaanta Hai Medanta” movement, positions the hospital at the forefront of preventive healthcare education in India.
The video features Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, demonstrating a three-step procedure to be conducted once a month, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The process involves examining the breast and armpit using light pressure in up-and-down and circular motions, while checking for lumps, skin changes, or nipple deformities. “Early detection improves treatment outcomes and survival rates,” Dr. Kaur emphasized, adding that regular self-exams empower women to take charge of their health.
The video has spurred heightened awareness among consumers and healthcare providers. Local clinics report increased inquiries for breast screening services, while pharmacies and wellness centers are exploring awareness campaigns and preventive health packages, reflecting growing demand for early-detection solutions in the region. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s initiative highlights the economic potential of preventive healthcare education and positions self-breast exams as a simple yet impactful tool for life-saving early detection.
