Medanta’s ‘Banno Ki Rasm’ goes viral, boosts breast cancer awareness across India

Medanta – The Medicity, a six-time Newsweek-recognized Best Private Hospital in India, has created a nationwide buzz with its newly launched awareness film, Banno Ki Rasm. Released under the hospital’s “Jaanta Hai Medanta” initiative, the 2-minute 28-second video has already crossed 8 million views across social media platforms, highlighting self-breast exams as a tradition of strength, self-love, and care.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director of Medanta, said, “Through this film, we aim to empower women and break the stigma around breast cancer.” Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director of Breast Cancer at Medanta, added that early detection through regular self-exams and screenings can significantly improve survival outcomes. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, claiming an estimated 6.7 lakh lives globally in 2022, with India among the worst-affected countries.

In Guwahati, the campaign has triggered heightened awareness and engagement. Local pharmacies, healthcare outlets, and wellness centers have reported increased footfall and inquiries about preventive screenings, while social media conversations among women in the city reflect a growing commitment to health consciousness. Market analysts note that such campaigns can influence consumer behavior in healthcare-related products and services, underlining the intersection of awareness and business opportunity.
